Art for your walls, my favorite places to shop for art and more.

Lets talk about art because this is one of the most asked questions I get daily. Where to find affordable art? vintage art? where to find good quality frames? In this post I am sharing my favorite go to places where I have found most of the art we have in our home.

Vintage art

There are so many good places to find vintage art, but I have to start with Facebook Marketplace. Not only because it is so convenient to shop from the comfort of my sofa, but the prices are so good and best part is that you can find art and get it shipped directly to your doorstep for thousand of sellers around the country. Want something faster? try your luck finding something driving distance that you can pick up same day! I have found some beautiful pieces there, my favorites are the three vintage lithographs I have in our living room.

The key to find really good pieces is to let the algorithm know your preferences by saving listings that you like.

Here is an example of how to save fb marketplace listings that you like. Over time the algorithm learns about your likes and starts recommending listings that you might be interested in buying, it is very accurate! You will be surprised at what starts showing up in your scroll.

My favorite Facebook marketplace find are these three vintage Lithographs in their original wood frames.

Another great way to find vintage art is hitting your local antique shops, art there can be expensive sometimes but always worth checking out. Plus, antiquing is so much fun, nothing can beat the thrill of the hunt. Go to maps and find some local antique shops you can stop by.

A vintage framed art from Mexico that I found antiquing is decorating the walls in our guest room.

Thrift stores are another great spot to shop for vintage art but it is always a hit or miss and you might leave empty handed. But if you find something, prices are the best! since everything they have has been donated you can find great pieces at very low prices.

A European vintage oil painting I found on Etsy is up on our kitchen shelves.

Etsy is another favorite of mine, I have found some of my favorite pieces of vintage European art there like that still life I have in the kitchen that came from Ukraine. Prices range from $80 - $200+. The only downside is that most art pieces come unframed and shipping fees are not cheap. But, one of a kind art is priceless.

My favorite print shops.

My go to print shop is always Juniper print shop, they offer original art prints in different sizes and their paper quality is beautiful. They also offer digital art that you can purchase and then print in any size you need, this is always helpful specially when I need to print something right away, I can sent it to Staples or Walgreens for a one day print service.

I just recently discovered Heirloom print shop and it quickly became another favorite of mine. Their paper quality is so good! and the best part is they offer textured paper options if you want your art prints to look more like real vintage art pieces. They have a great selection of vintage art as well and their prices are great. This lemon art is from their shop and I used this frame from amazon to frame it.

And last but not least a recent discovery, Public domain print shop where you can get FREE digital art downloads to print using your favorite print services. Kadie from @ahomeisannounced curated galleries filled with links to some of her favorite images currently available in the public Domain to make accessing to free art even more simple.

My other favorite shop for prints is Juniper Briggs, she is a super talented artist that fairly recently started offering some of her original art work in a printed format, the paper quality she uses for her printed art is a beautifully high quality textured paper. The woman art in the middle of our gallery wall in the living room is a Juniper Briggs.

Where to find frames?

There are so many great options out there but these are my go to’s.

Framebridge, I love that their user friendly website, you can order framing in lots of different sizes and their custom frame options are beautiful! they also ship very fast and the frame comes with all Tre hardware you will need, just get your hammer ready!

Another great thing about Framebridge is that they offer gallery wall options, they already curated the frames, you just need to add the art or pictures like I did for our family gallery wall in the hallway.

My other go to is Amazon for their fast shipping of course, I love the brand Craig Frames.

These two frames I have in the WC are from Craig frames, same as the frame I used for the lemon art in the kitchen. They offer several frame sizes and beautiful wood frames.

A set of two art prints from Zigzag studio design in our guest bathroom, I used these frames from Craig frames.

Thrift stores or even fb marketplace are great places to get really good frames. Most of the time you will find crappy art but a beautiful frames, just discard the art and replace it for something you like! I have found $2 frames at the thrift store! you can’t beat that. Thrift stores are always worth checking out, but again, to find really good treasures you might need to stop by a couple of times a week.

That’s all for now, I hope this post has been helpful, don’t forget to check my Instagram for more.

x,

Valeria
