Hi, I’m Valeria.

I am a wife and a mom of three kids and two dogs, born and raised in Peru. Fresh out of college, I moved to California in my early 20s, following my heart with just one suitcase and a head full of dreams.

A couple of years later, after becoming a mom, I found myself craving a sense of home. Starting anew in a foreign country with unfamiliar things and a new language left me feeling lost. I needed to rediscover myself, which began in our small rental house. I started decorating it to make it feel like a home for our family within our means.

Growing up in a smaller city in Peru, far from the capital, I wasn’t exposed to big designer names or brands. However, my mom had three design books I always browsed and daydreamed about. She loved interior design and always made our home feel cozy. More than the beautiful things, I remember how my childhood home felt.

My first encounter with home decor brands was after moving to the U.S., while working as a house cleaner and admiring our clients' home decor. Seeing those beautiful homes, I dreamt about the day I could decorate my own, which felt like a huge dream back then.

In 2017, I started my journey on Instagram with a small vintage rug shop named after my grandma and mom, Rebecca and Genevieve. I named my shop and Instagram page in honor of these two strong, inspiring, and loving women who taught me that HOME is, above all, family. It’s a feeling of being in a welcoming, safe, and cozy place where we can be ourselves.

In 2020, we bought our first home. After years of hard work, starting from zero in a new country, buying our first home was a dream come true! We saw so much potential in this late '60s house, though it needed a lot of love. That same year, I took a leap of faith and decided to become a content creator, documenting our home renovation journey and sharing it with everyone on my page @rebeccaandgenevieve.

In 2021, after three years in business, I made the difficult decision to close my rug shop. After some time sharing our house makeover journey, content creation became my full-time job. It's still surreal to think about how it all started and that now I get to work with some of the brands I only dreamt about a few years ago.

Since day one, we have been transforming our house one project at a time, from small cosmetic changes to big renovation projects, with my husband Paul and our three kids. DIYing as much as we can ourselves.

With this home, I feel like I found my personal style. With this house, I got to experiment with design, constantly pushing myself creatively. I love mixing old and new, patterns and colors, and my hope is that I can inspire you to do the same!
