REBECCA & GENEVIEVE
Your daily dose of color Inspo.

Hi and Welcome!
I am excited to share my journey with you as we transform our 1960's California house into a home, one project at a time.
I have a passion for designing with color and patterns, and I truly enjoy infusing our home with character through a blend of vintage and new elements. My goal is to inspire you to do the same, to create a home with heart and soul.

Welcome to the final part of our laundry space project! In our previous post, we shared the quick renovation we did when we first moved in back in 2020, along with the mistakes we made and noticed as we began using the space. We also talked about how we started improving it to make it more functional, not just pretty. Now, it’s time for my favorite part: adding color, the final touches, and the big reveal!
Let’s go back to 2022. We had a room next to the front door that we wanted to turn into a guest bedroom with space-saving furniture, but since we barely have guests, it mostly sat empty (or filled with boxes). The plan was to make the most of the space—using it as a guest room only when needed—and finally create a proper home office with a desk and everything. I love a good DIY home decor project, so I was up for the challenge of building one ourselves. I’ll be sharing everything we did in hopes of inspiring you to create your own small space solutions!
I don't have overhead lights in most of the rooms in our home, so I love filling them with lamps. It just gives a whole different vibe to the space—the perfect atmosphere to grab a hot beverage, a blanket, and watch your comfort movie. That's why I decided to share my top 5 favorite lamps. Each one adds its own unique charm and warmth to a room, making it the perfect addition for cozy nights in.
So…I changed the color in our multipurpose room! I know, I know—why, Valeria? Why are you re-painting again? Well, let’s keep it simple: first, I don’t like to settle for something unless I truly love it; and second, I love change. When I have a new idea, I want to try it out.
Three years ago, we created this beautiful accent wall in the midst of the chaotic renovation of our kitchen. It might look like a lot of work, but it was actually very simple. The goal was to make it look and feel like the brick was always there. It took me a while to write this post, but here it is with all the information you need to get inspired to DIY. Spoiler alert: there were a few mistakes made, so stay until the end to find out what we would have done differently.
My sister-in-law and her partner began renovating their small kitchen last year. They removed the wall dividing the open concept living area and the kitchen, and took out the tiny island. Although these were major improvements, the kitchen still felt compact and didn’t meet their family's functional needs. So, when she asked me to help redesign and update her kitchen, of course I said yes. It was going to be another challenge with them living two hours away, but I knew it would be worth it for the perfect kitchen makeover.

Rating 10 of last year's home projects: a kitchen reno, a project re-do, and a single room paint job (IYKYK). Another year of transforming this house into a home—one project at a time!
When we moved into our new house in 2020, I knew we had a lot of work ahead of us. This house needed a lot of love, and the laundry space was one of the projects I needed to tackle as soon as possible. Of course, at that time, we opted for an easy and affordable makeover. It worked well at first, but soon after, I realized it wasn’t the best use of the space. Now, four years later, I’m making some changes.

A few months ago, I put all our home projects on pause to focus on designing my sister-in-law’s primary bedroom. With both her and her partner juggling full-time jobs and caring for their little girl under two, I know how essential it is to have a calm and inviting space to unwind at the end of each day. That's why I wanted to gift them this special bedroom makeover!
It’s versatile, timeless and quickly became one of my favorite materials to transform spaces and add character in our home. V-groove planks are having a moment lately unlike the most popular wood paneling, tongue and grove. But this type of interlocking wood plank has been used for years and years and you can find it in most homes dated from the 1800 and later.
This is a small-ish bathroom with mostly builder-grade features, including the typical outdated glass door and glued mirror, not-so-great tile floors that, according to Brissette, were so hard to keep clean, and an outdated vanity and light fixtures. Honestly, it wasn't too bad because it was in good shape, but it was mostly outdated, and we knew that with simple and affordable changes, we could make it so much better.
We started working on our home right after we got the keys, but there were and still are spaces that where we can’t make permanent and big changes right away. The kitchen was one of those, we couldn't renovate right away so I decided to do some affordable cosmetic changes to improve the look of our kitchen in the meantime
For me, wallpaper is a true source of creativity and endless inspiration with its vibrant mix of colors and patterns. I always tell people, if you’re struggling with a color palette, start with the art—and in this case, wallpaper is the art of the walls! Whenever I share photos of our home, I get so many questions about the wallpaper I’ve used, so I thought I’d put together a post featuring the top 5 favorites from my followers (and, of course, mine too).
