Guest Bedroom Update, A Cozy Bedroom with Dusty Red Walls

My sister might come to visit us soon for the first time in our new home and I wanted to create a cozy space for her. I wanted this to be like her home away from home for the time she will be staying here, but add some of those “hotel like” touches to make her stay as comfortable as possible.
Our guest bedroom is still a work in progress but it has come so far since the day we moved in, -Picture below- from blue carpet to beautiful Engineered hardwood floors, I finally had the perfect blank canvas to start having fun with decor.
I wanted this space to have a modern cabin-like feel. After painting the walls this beautiful shade of dusty red called Canyon Clay by Sherwin Williams, it was time to play with the decor to make this space come to life. Some layers with textiles, subtle patterns, a few branches in a vase, a pretty vintage art piece and a colorful vintage pillow, a combination of all those elements made this space feel so special.
Fun fact, that piece of art on the right inspired the colors and vibe I wanted for this space. That is usually how a design idea sparks for me, either from a piece of art or a rug. So next time when you need inspiration for a space use a rug or a piece of art as your starting point, it works for me every time.
Btw, this room needs a rug, still on the hunt for a special one.
Since this is a guest room I wanted to have some of the amenities you can find in a hotel, like these ultra-soft and extra-absorbent Ultimate Micro Cotton® Hotel Collection bath towels, available at Macy’s. They are MADE IN GREEN certified by OEKO-TEX®, which means the product has been made in an eco-friendly environment and is manufactured using sustainable processes under environmentally friendly and socially responsible working conditions. This certification also proves that the product has been tested to be free of harmful substances, so these towels are gentle for those with sensitive skin.
We really like these towels so much that we had to get some for our kids’ bathroom as well.
Adding the bath towels inside a basket on the dresser looks like part of the décor. They are right there and ready when our guest comes. I also added my favorite candle, a little bottle of shampoo and conditioner -not pictured- and a bottle of hand sanitizer because it is 2020.
Overall, this space is ready as can be, some details are still pending and will be done over time -more on my IG Story highlights- and I couldn't be any more excited about the idea of my sister coming to visit. We are so ready for her.
